Potholes making access to Willey Village dangerous

This is not the first time that we’ve reported this and our MP Stuart Anderson has also reported it (case ref. SA42780) The Village Hall has had a decline in bookings as this road is nigh on impassable and at a recent booking taxis refused to pick up passengers, resulting in the hosts having to take people home. There is a Village Hall trying to hold Community Events, individual dwellings, a small village, the Willey Estates Offices and a defibrillator at Willey (the latter was needed recently) and it is a busy single track road with farm and delivery vehicles and locals using it. It would be very difficult for emergency service vehicles to get to the village or Hall. We appreciate that there are potholes on many main roads but the state of our single track road is effectively cutting off our Hall and village … please can you help … Anne Skinner (Secretary of WVH)

Our response to a pothole report will depend upon several factors. These include the severity of the defect, how busy the road is and its proximity to other defects or hazards.
We have very limited resources and budget. At times of high demand- such as emergency storm situations- we may take longer to respond than we would prefer.
We are also mindful of other works planned for the road. This includes external contractors or utilities and our long term road renewal program.
Temporary repairs may be applied on very busy roads where special traffic management or further investigation may be needed or in an emergency situation. Repairs may be completed in stages, not all at once.
The road will continue to be regularly inspected as per our policy. If the pothole becomes an imminent danger, please call our customer call centre on 0345 678 9006, giving your report reference number, and the situation can be reassessed.
