Request for resiting yellow salt bin from private land
Reported via mobile in the Salt/ grit bins- new request category anonymously at 18:16, Saturday 11 April 2026
Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14208055.
Hello. There is a yellow salt bin which is on our private land in front of our front garden wall. (Picture attached). We assume that this bin is owned by the council. If this is the case, please could we request for the bin to be resited to a better place, maybe near the school next door, as we wish to landscape this area of our garden. Kind regards

The provision of grit/ salt bins is kept to the minimum. Existing sites are reviewed annually. Requests are considered on a case by case basis in line with our risk assessment pro forma. This includes factors such as the gradient of the site, gritting route and proximity to a junction. Grit/ salt bins are not provided for private roads.
We aim to respond to your request as soon as we reasonably can, but we are not able to give a definite response time due to the number of requests we receive and adverse weather conditions. Thank you for your patience.
