Urgent: road edge failure causing property damage and safety risk.

Reported via desktop in the Road surface issue category anonymously at 16:29, Sunday 29 March 2026

Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14206880.

I am writing to report a serious issue with the road edge adjacent to my property. I previously e-mailed the Council and have been asked to raise it here. There is currently no proper kerb or structural edging in place. As a result, the road edge is breaking down unevenly, creating depressions where water accumulates. When vehicles pass, this standing water is consistently thrown onto my property. This is leaving the exterior walls persistently damp, despite mitigation efforts on my part.

The situation is further aggravated by the narrow width of the road at this point. Larger vehicles are forced to slow and mount the verge to pass each other, accelerating the degradation of the road edge and verge. This is bringing vehicles dangerously close to the property and worsening the water displacement problem.

The issue is located near a utility cover (believed to be telecommunications), and the continued deterioration suggests that without intervention, both the road structure and adjacent verge will fail further.

This is now causing:

- Ongoing damage risk to the property due to persistent damp - Progressive failure of the road edge and verge - Increased safety concerns due to vehicle proximity.

I request that this location be inspected as a matter of urgency, and that appropriate remedial works—such as installation of proper kerbing, drainage, and edge reinforcement—be undertaken.

I would appreciate confirmation of receipt and details of the next steps as soon as possible.
