Street light remains on

Reported via mobile in the Street light timing issue category anonymously at 01:12, Tuesday 10 March 2026

Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14204791.

The light is along a footpath. Since the light was repaired within the last month the light remains on after midnight and illuminates into property bedrooms. All other street lighting turns off after midnight. Not sure why this remains illuminated from early evening through to early morning. Could this be reviewed please. Thanks.

Updates

  • Street lighting may occasionally switch on or off slightly earlier or later than expected. This is because each lamp uses a photo electric cell that automatically responds to natural light levels. These cells may need up to 14 days to readjust following events such as clock changes, power cuts, or the installation of a new lantern or cell.

All timing reports are risk assessed. If a light has been out of synchronisation for 14 days or more, we will consider whether a site visit is needed. Locations with higher footfall or areas near steps and ramps may be prioritised for safety reasons.

Attendance times can vary depending on the contractor’s workload. Please be aware that timing issues are classed as low priority faults, and your patience is appreciated.
