New Speed Signs on the Birchmeadow Estate Broseley

Reported via mobile in the Other highways issue category anonymously at 18:59, Monday 9 March 2026

Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14204771.

Good Evening I have noticed new speed signs at the bottom of the road on the Birchmeadow at a speed limit of 30mph and I would like to express my concern as how highways have come to this decission of 30mph as I feel this in excessive for an estate where Children and the elderly cross and the road and most of the time due to cars parked on pavements have to walk on the road. I am all for speed signs and welcome the new signs and speed humps on the dark lane but it isn't just the dark lane where speed is a problem. The Birchmeadow estate from the top by the park to the bottom is a straight road and cars speed already on this stretch. 30mph is excessive and I always thought a built up estate was 20mph . I live on the Birchmeadow estate and it is very scary at times the speed some go. If anyone from highways would look into this please and maybe reconsider the speed limit and drop it to 20mph . Many Children walk to school this way 30mph is just not safe at all and I was very shocked to notice the 30mph signs . The safe speed is 20mph in a built up area. Regards Mrs S Taylor
