Multiple potholes including going into underground water drain

Reported via mobile in the Pothole in a road category anonymously at 14:15, Wednesday 4 March 2026

Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14204079.

There are multiple potholes. One has a whole going into the underground water drain. I reported this a year ago but nothing has been done. The road surface is now breaking up badly. Soon a vehicle is likely to break through into the underground drain

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting us. This note is to confirm that we have received your report and we'll be in touch with an update as soon as possible.

  • The issue you reported has been assessed and added to our list of roads of engineering concern. This means more extensive work is required than simple spot repairs. It will be considered for work as part of a larger scheme of road maintenance as funding allows.

Our priority is to be effective at responding to the most serious issues. The list is not completed on a first come first served basis but based upon several risk and resource factors. A site's priority on the list changes regularly. Factors include weather related emergency work or awaiting the optimal time of year to complete works.

Due to limited and changing resources we are unable to provide an exact timescale. Often this can be months to years.

We will continue to undertake routine inspections in the meantime, whereby notifiable safety issues are recorded and scheduled for action in the interim.
