Road Closure Chester Road

Reported via desktop in the Other highways issue category anonymously at 12:23, Friday 27 February 2026

Sent to Shropshire Council 1 minute later. Council ref: 14203301.

In its letter to residents, Cadent said ‘ there will be a one-way road closure in place from the 5th January for approximately 2 weeks. The remaining works will take place under rolling multi-way lights.’

As I write, Chester Road is blocked off and has been for 3 days. As Cadent’s signage is so bad - that is, a Road Closure sign at both ends - residents; delivery drivers etc do not now which end of Chester Road to use to access adjoining roads.

As the Council approving the works, you should have insisted that Cadent have board at both ends of Chester Road stating which roads can and cannot be accessed. At the moment, residents; delivery drivers are driving up Chester Road only to find that access is blocked which then requires a U- turn and a 2 mile detour to get to the other end of Chester Road.

Surely, Council taxpayers deserve better scrutiny of the impact of proposed works by the Highways Authority.
