This hole has been there over a month and is getting bigger, there are also other holes near by

  • The potholes have not been dealt with from February. Last Sunday I caught my foot in the pothole, falling, badly hurt my knee, bruised my other knee, cut hand and elbow and scraped and bruised my shoulder. I was unable to walk a few hours later and couldn’t put any weight on my leg the following day. I had to have a day off work and having a local business meant I was unable to open my shop and missed out on a days wages. About a month ago I hit a pothole further down Bridge road and had to have a new tyre. When will these roads star5 to be maintained? This is a danger to motorists and pedestrians!

  • The issue you reported has been assessed and added to our list of roads of engineering concern. This means more extensive work is required than simple spot repairs. It will be considered for work as part of a larger scheme of road maintenance as funding allows.

    Our priority is to be effective at responding to the most serious issues. The list is not completed on a first come first served basis but based upon several risk and resource factors. A site's priority on the list changes regularly. Factors include weather related emergency work or awaiting the optimal time of year to complete works.

    Due to limited and changing resources we are unable to provide an exact timescale. Often this can be months to years.

    We will continue to undertake routine inspections in the meantime, whereby notifiable safety issues are recorded and scheduled for action in the interim.
