Gulley edge broken and join to other surfaces deteriorating

Reported via desktop in the Pothole in a road category anonymously at 12:31, Wednesday 25 February 2026

Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14202941.

One side of the gulley has lost all the surface material approx 450mm x 100mm x 75mm deep. This is on the national cycle lane so is a danger to cyclists as well as to motorists and pedestrians. As can be seen in the photo the other edges are all starting to break up including where is joins the other road surface as the patches used are no where near as effective as hot applied tarmac with sealed edges to joints.

There are so many on this stretch of road, rather than reporting each individually it would be more cost efficient to start at one end of the road (giving reasonable notice) and have a rolling road closure and fix all the little dents and bigger potholes and ensure the drains are clear, the gulley isn't the drain, that goes somewhere and is probably blocked through lack of regular maintenance. I would rather have this running 24/7 to get proper repairs done than have to keep filling these in and waiting for nearly a year
