Drain blocked resulting in water in road

Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14202171.

This drain by the bridge has filled with silt resulting in the road flooding whenever it rains. It drains VERY slowly. Vehicles avoid the water and drive on the wrong side of the road as a result after heavy rains. The road bends just enough for traffic the other way to not always be visible which means there is danger of collisions between vehicles or a vehicle and a pedestrian.

The drains connected to this one further up the road are also starting to block resulting in them over flowing and excess water running down the road. This damages both the road and could flood gardens in heavy rain.

  • The issue you reported has been assessed and the necessary work will be included in our programme of upcoming maintenance.

    Our priority is to be effective at responding to the most serious problems so at this time we are unable to provide an exact timescale.

    In the meantime until these works can be undertaken, we will continue to undertake routine inspections, whereby notifiable issues are recorded and scheduled for action.
