Flood Water / Mud Drainage
Reported via desktop in the Standing water on the highway category anonymously at 15:50, Wednesday 18 February 2026
Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14201551.
I am writing to raise a persistent flooding issue on the local road adjacent to our site, just off the A53 as you enter the village of Shawbury. The issue has been repeatedly ongoing for some time and has recently escalated to the point where it has materially affected our business operations, including floodwater encroaching onto our property. Severn Trent Water were recently called to clear the drains located on the affected road. However, we were subsequently informed that they believe the drainage network on this particular stretch is unadopted and therefore not within their remit to maintain. This leaves a concerning situation whereby a known drainage issue is causing repeated flooding, yet responsibility for the infrastructure appears unclear. Beyond the direct impact to our business premises, the flooding also presents a safety concern for road users and pedestrians, particularly during periods of sustained rainfall.
