Uneven pavement pothole, caused injury
Reported via mobile in the Pavement surface issue category anonymously at 13:00, Tuesday 20 January 2026
Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14195299.
I am messaging to report that I have sprained my ankle by turning it over on a section of pavement in Highley.
I believe it is in the same location that another resident mentioned on here in a separate report of an ankle injury. It was at the end of Hawthorn Drive, where the Yew Tree Grove cul-de-sac alley ends and meets Bridgnorth Road (next to the telephone exchange).
I was walking here on Tuesday evening (13th January), the street light doesn't quite reach the pothole so it was in darkness. I fell and sprained my ankle and cut my knee. I have been x-rayed to rule out a break and it was confirmed that it is a sprain and I could be out of action for 8-12 weeks.
The state of the pot holes in the pavement has clearly proven dangerous. I have attached photos of the ground and my injury. I thought I would bring this to your attention as it appears this area has now caused two injuries.

A white box has been drawn around a nearby pothole but not the one I fell in. The pothole I fell in is closer to the road. Do you know when this work will be carried out?

Please see further photos taken since my injury. To confirm, this long thin stretch of pavement in the centre that goes into a 4cm ditch of pavement is where my accident occurred. This area has not been marked white to be fixed. I showed a photo from the other angle with a different pothole in sight in one of my previous photos. this one has been marked for correction but not the area where I fell. I would appreciate the site being re-visited before someone else has another accident. I still have not recovered from my sever sprain and have limited range of motion in my ankle 5 weeks on.

We have investigated your report and it needs to be dealt with by another department, which is not currently supported by Fix My Street. Your case in this system will be closed. However, the relevant service has been informed and asked to investigate. Thank you.
