Huge pot hole on Sarn Lane

Reported via mobile in the Pothole in a road category anonymously at 07:56, Tue 9 December 2025

Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14190068.

This pothole was generated over 24 months ago when the road between Gledrid roundabout and St Martins was closed for pothole repair work ironically. The little lane we live on can accommodate the level of cars in ratio with the properties but for that week, and again it was a cut through at some other point last year due to other road closures, made it a rat run and the neat verges and lay-bys got absolutely ruined. There is one in particular, as marked on the map and as photographed which is really dangerous. The photo I’ve attached doesn’t do it justice as the flood water is hiding it but in my opinion in makes it worse as it hides it. You can out in 2024 and put a bag of gravel in it which within days had dispersed and made no difference. I have a 4x4 and refuse to pull into that lay-by because I’m aware of how deep and wide the pothole is and people have got stuck in it recently and had to be pulled out by a local farmer. If you pulled into the lay-by and weren’t a resident of the lane and ‘in the know’ it would do extreme damage to your vehicle. I’ve flagged this at the time 24 months ago and again last year as did some of my neighbours. PLEASE can it be filled in properly as it’s causing such anxiety for us and it almost encourages you to put your foot down to get past the dreaded lay-by, in turn accelerating into a bend so encouraging a potential crash. I don’t think it’s a big job in the great scheme of things so financially not a huge outlay, but it really would improve the quality of life for all the local dwellers as it’s causing us all significant stress.
