Investigating
Flooding causing Issues with both footbridge and water course
Reported via mobile in the Watercourse category anonymously at 08:41, Tuesday 2 December 2025
Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14189513.
The “tornado” which occurred in 2024 created much havoc for residents and the thousands of visitors to the beautiful Batch Valley. Disappointingly even moderately heavy rainfall is exasperating the problem. We are at the start of the winter season, and the water course is no longer coping. There has been more flooding causing a further ingress of water to Reservoir cottage, damage to both the footbridge and the vehicular crossing. I have been visiting Batch Valley for more than 65 years and in my living memory, and that of other locals, I can confirm that there were no such problem prior to 2024. I believe it should be possible to provide a cost effective long term solution which will stand the test of time.
