I wish to complain about the resurfacing programme carried out 1 – 3 September to Holders lane, Onneley, Woore. As a resident I was informed in August that the road would be closed for three days to allow resurfacing. However, the work was carried out in just one day leaving the following issues: 1) The quality of repairs. As my picture illustrates, the approach to patching the road seems minimalistic, leaving areas along side these patches where the surface is poor and deteriorating. This will mean that new pot holes will soon start to appear and this could have been easily avoided. In my opinion, the effort and cost incurred in closing the road and transporting machinery justified a more thorough repair.
2) Mud on road, damage to verge, and hedge banks. As illustrated in the pictures, there is now mud covering the road where vehicles were parked on School Lane. There is also excessive mud left in the middle of Holders Lane, and indeed damage to the hedge banks pulling further debris into the lane. No attempt has been made to clear this mud, which is still on the road and a hazard to traffic. Note that much of this damage is in Staffordshire portion of the lane but was caused by this programme.
3) Drainage damage. This damage to the verge, and accumulation of mud, will now begin effecting the drainage in this lane – which is itself an ongoing issue. As my picture shows, no attempt has been made to clear the mud from the grids, etc., which have become covered through the repair. These grids will inevitably now become blocked. Again some of these are in the Staffordshire portion of the lane, but again caused by this programme.
It is disappointing that this work was not carried out to a higher standard. I have waited until today before raising this issue in the hope that the work was still in progress. In my opinion, both the mud and drains require immediate attention.
