Approx 80 Union Jack flags over the street lighting
Reported via mobile in the Street lighting other issue category anonymously at 09:39, Wed 27 August 2025
Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14183439.
The street has a St George’s flag or a Union Jack flag on every other lamppost starting at the bottom of Whitemere Road all the way up Mount Pleasant Road (this is a very long road). I fear the flags have been put up for the wrong reasons and as a white British person, i feel very uncomfortable. It’s becoming a statistic that estate agents are de-evaluating properties where these flags are concerned. The media is proof that the flags are being used to scaremonger asylum seekers who I believe are deserving to have a safe life. There have been stabbings and attacks around these flags at other places in the country. I really do not believe you should be allowing these flags to be up in the street. I cannot imagine how the families on the street who were not born in the UK feel. Please do feel free to pass this on to the right person, and please do feel free to let me know of your outcome. Kind Regards,
