Blocked Drain Causing Flooding Car Park and Residences

This drain appears to be blocked and contains silt and debris. During heavy rain the drain is unable to cope with the flow of water. The floodwater flows through the car park. It then passes through the gap which provides pedestrian access to the road. The floodwater continues up to residences including The Old Stables in St Mary's Lane. This is causing issues for the resident who has had to place sandbags temporarily around the perimeter of her gate as well as across the pedestrian access gap in the car park in an attempt to stem the flow of floodwater.

This drain is located in the Shropshire Council Car Park, next to the electric car charging points slightly down from the public toilets.

This has been a longstanding issue and happens whenever heavy rain occurs. The most recent incident of flooding was over the weekend 19th-20th July 2025.
