Verge encroachment on footpaths

The footpath provides access to the schools for children from Oldbury.

There has been no maintenance to the hedge or verge for years. This has resulted in the narrowing of the path, resulting in forcing children to walk close to the road. It’s on a very dangerous bend. Cars often drive close to the curb. There is no room for passing on the pavement which means having to step into the road.

Lots of people all dogs along this section. It’s impossible to do this safely now.

I have reported this before.

  • The issue you reported has been assessed and the necessary work will be included in our programme of upcoming maintenance.

    In the meantime until these works can be undertaken, we will continue to undertake routine inspections, whereby notifiable issues are recorded and scheduled for action.
