Highway run off water causing flood

Reported via mobile in the Flood category anonymously at 12:28, Friday 4 July 2025

Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14180174.

Old Mill Lane has recently been resurfaced. A few years ago 2 tarmac humps were installed at an angle to try and direct highway surface water into a sewer. This was done due to flooding of properties down the unadopted section of old mill lane. Whilst not perfect they did provide some protection. The resurfacing work has now removed these and the drain is now effectively being bypassed. In addition, the surface drain at the top of old mill lane is blocked causing all of the water to run off the highway from the church down old mill lane. I have reported this previously. The recent good weather has been on our side but we are due heavy rain soon and this will result in highway run off water running down the section of unadopted road in huge volumes. The residents recently paid for this of lane to be resurfaced at great expense. Any highway surface run off will cause damage to the surface and potentially flood properties and land .

The photos show the blocked drain and the now removed tarmac humps.
