Unsafe excavation immediately adjacent to 40mph temporary speed limit

The contractor who is building the new roundabout has started major excavations just inside the temporary 40mph limit as you come down Buildwas Bank. Major plant is being used. These temporary speed restriction signs are hard to see until you get to them and there is often traffic queuing up to there. This is a major accident waiting to happen. The 40mph speed restriction needs to start much earlier on Buildwas Bank

  • Apparently the latest (unsafe) works are being done by National Grid. Cars are queuing much further up Buildwas Bank than the roadworks sign, so little or no warning. At the very least, roadworks signs needed much earlier on and more prominent.
