Manhole cover clanging when a vehicle passes over it.

The Manhole cover is banging all hours when a vehicle passes over it. It is worsening by the day. Oil Tankers pass over this to deliver heating oil to the residents. I feel that if this is not remedied soon then the whole cover housing could be dislodged and become a bigger problem and become dangerous. I initially contacted Severn Trent, assuming it was their Manhole. After they attended today they said that it is the Council's property and obligation for remedy lies with Shrops CC. I therefore would be grateful for your attention to this matter please. Kindest regard.

  • Hi. Further to my report on the 1st July 2025. Clanging of the indicated manhole is getting worse and louder, every time a vehicle passes over it. This is obviously quite irritating especially at night. All this vibration can only lead to the deterioration of the road surrounding the cover. I note that this was to be covered in ‘the upcoming routine maintenance’ works. 3 months have since passed. I would be grateful for an update regarding the remedy of the situation. Kind regards.
