Poor road markings

Reported via desktop in the Other highways issue category by Michael John Hallworth at 14:20, Thu 5 June 2025

Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14178435.

There are two problems with the road markings at the junction of Hereford Road and Roman Road which have caused three near misses in my experience alone in the last two months. When travelling from Roman Road, most traffic turns right into Hereford Road towards the Meole Island, as instructed by the sign just before the junction. Some traffic in the left lane turns left into Hereford Road or goes straight ahead into the garage premises. The problems I have observed have been 1) drivers thinking they can enter the garage premises straight ahead from the RIGHT lane on Roman Road, thereby colliding with traffic turning right from the left lane and 2) Drivers turning right into Hereford Road from the right lane and being unsure whether they are travelling in the right direction, as they are in the middle lane of three and they panic and try and cut into the left lane, forcing left lane traffic off the road. Simple solutions would be: 1) A 'turn right' arrow in the right lane on Roman Road before the junction (A on photo) and 2) Renewal of the left/forward arrow after turning right from the right lane (B on photo) to reassure drivers they are in the right lane. NB this arrow already exists on the road but is so faded that it is almost invisible.
