Overgrown trees / hedges

Reported via desktop in the Overgrown Trees/Hedges category anonymously at 15:03, Wednesday 21 May 2025

Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14177407.

Trees and hedges overgrown on the public highway. 100 ft stretch. I know the council dismiss this as their problem but found this on the internet.

2. Council's Responsibilities: Highway Authority Powers: The council's highways authority has the power to require landowners to trim hedges that are causing an obstruction or are a safety hazard. Highways Act 1980, Section 154: The Highways Act 1980 outlines the legal framework for dealing with overgrown vegetation on or adjacent to public roads and footpaths. Taking Action: If the landowner doesn't respond to the council's notice, the council can take action, potentially trimming the hedge themselves and charging the landowner for the work.

The overgrown trees / hedge are a safety issue
