Manhole cover about to go through

This manhole has been loose for a long time and has been reported by many different people. It is now at the stage where it is about to go through completely. This Lane is on a bus route and the bus can't avoid going over it. If it were to go through any traffic hitting the cover would go straight into my house. Any traffic going over it makes a very loud noise and it is right outside my daughters bedroom window. We have been very concerned for a long time and is causing us sleepless nights as we are waiting for it to fall through and traffic to plough straight into the house.

  • The issue you reported has been assessed and the necessary work will be included in our programme of upcoming maintenance.

    Our priority is to be effective at responding to the most serious problems so at this time we are unable to provide an exact timescale.

    In the meantime until these works can be undertaken, we will continue to undertake routine inspections, whereby notifiable issues are recorded and scheduled for action.
