Light Sequence

Reported via desktop in the Other Traffic Signals issue category anonymously at 14:46, Tuesday 15 April 2025

Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14175368.

The new traffic light system at the Station gyratory in Shrewsbury.

It appears that the lights are not operating in the correct sequence. Specifically, when travelling from Smithfield Road towards Castle Gates, only three or four vehicles are able to pass through before being stopped, as the lights at the Castle Gates junction turn red. This is causing unnecessary congestion and delays.

Additionally, the signal timings seem to be prioritising traffic from Chester Street, whereas priority should be given to vehicles coming from Smithfield Road due to the higher traffic volume on this route.

Could this issue please be reviewed as a matter of urgency? It is currently causing significant disruption, particularly during peak travel times.
