Flashing school sign (wigwag) damaged opposite Britland, High Street Clive
Reported via desktop in the Illuminated Sign Damaged category by Clive Parish Council at 16:38, Thursday 6 March 2025
Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14172229.
This wigwag was damaged in a storm back in January 2025 and reported on FMS at the time. The FMS log shows work has been scheduled, but it is around 8 weeks since the initial report and no repairs have been made. Please can repairs be actioned urgently as primary school children are at risk while the sign is not in use?
We know from speed sign data that the peak period for speeding in this part of the village coincides with school drop off times, and this area is also identified as a speeding hot spot by the local Community speed watch (who conduct speed watches next to Hebron Close) with some drivers being captured well in excess of the speed limit. So we really do need to get this wigwag repaired and operational again as a matter of urgency, to ensure that children and their guardians are kept safe during drop off and pick up times. Thank you in advance.

To confirm, this flashing school crossing sign (wigwag) is not the Parish Council's responsibility. When there was a problem with the school lights flashing at the wrong time (around 2021), I corresponded with SC highways streetlighting team to get the problem resolved, and nothing has changed to my knowledge so I believe the asset is still SC's responsibility.
