Culvert is a know issue
Reported via Android in the Flood category anonymously at 12:53, Wed 27 November 2024
Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14161304.
Once again residents in Gobowen are forced to endure damage to their properties and difficulty travelling whilst Shropshire Council do nothing to help the issue from reoccurring
This Culvert has been an issue for years now and is only getting worse. With more rainfall expected, can you please get teams out to clear the culvert and the drains in Gobowen?
Emails to customer service have been very dismissive of the issue. This is people's lives and homes. Please pioritise this.

This really does require further investigation. The entire length of the drainage is full of silt and gravel. We can't keep waiting for the village to flood and then taking reactive measures. Shropshire Councils own floods officer has told me in person, how action is needed and that Gobowen hasn't been prioritised due to them not realising the extent of the properties being affected.
How can the officer in charge give me a verbal update that action is needed and then Fix My Street update that no action is required? There is a clear break down in communication occurring here. And I am concerned that it will once again be Gobowens residents paying the price.
Please escalate this matter. There is no reason for a lack of action to be the right decision here.

The issue you reported has been assessed and the necessary work will be included in our programme of upcoming maintenance.
Our priority is to be effective at responding to the most serious problems so at this time we are unable to provide an exact timescale.
In the meantime until these works can be undertaken, we will continue to undertake routine inspections, whereby notifiable issues are recorded and scheduled for action.
