Culvert blocked under Shrewsbury Road, All Stretton

Reported via desktop in the Watercourse category anonymously at 19:39, Mon 25 November 2024

Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14161114.

Originally reported to the council on 27/10/2024 however, the report below was removed and deemed as no further action. As shown in these recent photos, the stream level is now rising. Due to the absence of the stone wall, when the stream overflows this will result in further flooding of properties along Shrewsbury Road. Whilst I appreciate the difficulty of the task, it is vital that the council re look at the problem and attempt to rectify. Previous report below. The culvert carrying water under the Shrewsbury road in All Stretton is blocked with stone and silt carried down from the earlier storm. The overall capacity of the stream is also severely reduced due to stone build up. In addition the wall bordering the water course has collapsed which now means future heavy rainfall will bypass the culvert and flood the houses along Shrewsbury road. This has been an issue since 26th September 2024
