There is water under this drain cover.

Reported via mobile in the Watercourse category anonymously at 14:48, Mon 18 November 2024

Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14160365.

ST have been out and advised that "Our waste engineers attended to investigate further. It looks like the water is coming from the storm water sewer. This would be the responsibility of the council. Please contact them to request a visit as it looks like the water inside the highway water surface drain is leaking into the main sewer."

  • Following heavy overnight rain the water is pouring out again. There is now a large puddle on the roadway and path. If this freezes (and low temperatures are expected this week) it will be a significant hazard for old people waking to the doctors surgery next door.

  • Problem is that this will happen every time it rains and it'll be a problem on a regular basis until properly sorted. ST think it's probably the storm drain at fault so it isn't going to stop any time soon. Needs a proper fix, the overflow is just the water finding an escape route. I just hope there isn't a water surge so the lid lifts and leaves a hole in the path...
