My property is flooding during heavy rainfall.

Reported via desktop in the Property flooding issue category anonymously at 02:07, Tue 29 October 2024

Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14158939.

The public path is sloped away from the road and towards the front door of my house (No. 43 Mill Street). During periods of heavy rainfall the rainwater floods into my property. My property is a Grade II Listed property and this continual flooding is causing detrimental damage to the fabric of the building - as well as being highly inconvenient for me and my wife who live within the premises. A public path should never have been allowed to run towards a property, so not sure why this was ever installed like it is in the first place. There was a drainaige facilty installed (on the path and onto my property) but this is evidently blocked and most likely unsuitabnly sized, judging by the small diameter of the drainage pipe.

Please could an Inspector contact me so that a site meeting can be arranged?

Regards

Kevin

  • Hello, Please can you update me on any action being taken on this issue, as nobody has contacted me from the council since I first reported the issue. Our property flooded again last night after the heavy rainfall. As the public path is sloped towards our house (not away from it as should be the case) it causes flooding within our property at times of heavy rainfall. This is helping to destroy the fabric of this Grade II listed building. It has also caused us a lot of heartache, and unnecessarily so. I would welcome a council surveyor contacting me asap, as this issue will not go away untiol works are completed to rectify the issue. Regards Kevin

  • 11/01/2025 - It's been over 2 months now since I first reported this, and still no action has been taken or contact made with me to discuss the problem on site.

I have now emailed Lezley Picton to see if she can get things moving.
