Street light fitting isn’t shining straight down and shines into our house

Reported via mobile in the Street Light Damaged category anonymously at 21:24, Thu 10 October 2024

Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14157180.

The street light on South Hermitage has been repaired (?) but the light isn’t shining downwards on to the road but is at an angle (about 30 degrees) and shines straight into the back of our house at 20 West Hermitage. It needs readjusting so that it is level and shining downwards and not into our garden and house

  • The lamp continues to shine into our garden and into our house and remains at a 30 degree angle pointing down the street

  • Now the leaves have fallen from the tree adjacent to the streetlight the light is even brighter shining into the back two bedrooms of our house. Please can you come and straighten the lamp head so that it’s shining down onto the road. As you can see from these pictures the light is shining sideways and up into the tree.

  • I have no communication from you at all about this fault since the 11th October - this is simply not acceptable and I want to know that somebody has been to look at the faulty streetlight, seen that its been fitted incorrectly/been damaged in some way, no longer shines down onto the road but into houses and is repositioned - a task that appears to be quite simple as the headlamp just needs to be repositioned and point downwards. The light currently shines into my two back bedroom windows, leaves the road and pavement in total darkness on one side and is a real nuisance. This is a polite request for an update and some action please

  • Hi

It’s now ten weeks since I reported this issue and I have had no follow up at all. I have today called your office at 1505. Only to be told that it isn’t within working hours and I can’t speak to an advisor. I am sorry but this is simply ridiculous - please advise me what you are doing to check out the issue and repair the faulty streetlight that is pointing in the wrong direction and why 1505 on a weekday doesn’t come under working hours. Your service response so far has been woeful and very frustrating.
