Numerous potholes/road surface erosion
Reported via mobile in the Carriageway surface problem category anonymously at 15:45, Tuesday 8 October 2024
Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14156985.
Despite numerous reports regarding the condition of Ollerton lane, little has been done to improve the highway and it continues to rapidly degrade. Any attempt to fill the ‘odd’ pothole have been substandard (only half filled) and break down within weeks of ‘repair’ there is literally no passing places between 2 cars (let alone large vehicles) without ending up down a massive pothole or crater. There are too many along the route to report individually. The large vehicle traffic along this lane from Stoke heath crossroads to crow lane is increasing due to the business park which has further expanded. Part of the conditions of the recent business park expansion permission was that Ollerton lane would have passing places installed ‘prior to above ground works being completed’ yet it is now fully built and the road has not had any improvements and is deteriorating further. The issue is made even worse due to the recent HGV restriction through Childs ercall forcing even more traffic down ollerton lane. It is in need of a major upgrade and is not fit for purpose. On top of the HGV traffic, the volume of general traffic (staff, deliveries etc) accessing the business park has significantly increased with the expansion. Ollerton lane is an unclassified road with a national speed limit resulting in vehicles driving too fast and forcing other road users off the road on blind bends. This stretch of road really needs assessing by highways and upgrading to a suitable standard.

These holes are now considerably worse than when first reported and nothing has been done. This lane is deteriorating fast and causing damage to vehicles having to go into significantly deep and wide holes in order to pass.
