Traffic lights too confusing and too fast!

The traffic lights on Leg Street were changed recently. They switch far too quickly though, so this causes congestion on leg street, which is far busier than King Street, and people are pushing their luck to get through on a yellow, so speeding up to get through. The change to green on King Street seems to be a bit too quick to allow these thrill seekers through safely too.
And then, having two sets of traffic lights might be causing some confusion. I think the first car in this picture thought it was allowed up to the second set of lights. Or it might have just chickened out and stopped when it saw cars coming at it from the right. It was stopped there. Larger vehicles need that space to get round that corner.
If it hasn't happened already, this will cause an accident sooner or later. Please can someone come and have a look and a good think about it?
