Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14153787.
Along the A442 pathway east toward the old Worcester road and west toward Bridgnorth the pathway is impassable in places, and for most is no more than 12” wide. Dog walkers, pedestrians have to step into the road to avoid the weeds and foliage. I personally have to clear the bank to the right of my driveway as the ferns and weeds block my view, and cut back the soil that falls into the pavement, the area is not on my property and yer we have to clear this several times each year. The hedgerows are so overgrown you can’t get pass, to the west there is an old failing sandstone wall where the hedge has overgrown. If this falls, which is likely it will block the pavement and potentially spill into the road. The length of the verge needs manually cutting back and clearing and regularly spraying to prevent re growth of weeds. The nettles are so dense, people have to step into the road to avoid being stung. It needs the council to schedule a regular preventative maintenance programme. The weeds are also growing in the gutter and between the kerbstone and the tarmac of the pavement. It’s unsafe, and an accident waiting to happen. The council should take a proactive approach to prevent a serious incident. I am sure local residents, including the many walkers, runners, cyclists, all vulnerable road users would appreciate this being cleared. Working in health and safety I find it shocking that the pathways are ignored by the council particularly as it presents such a serious safety issue. If you want to call me and arrange a meeting you have my mobile and email, I’m more than happy to do so. Many thanks, Derek.
