Grass verges and hedges restricting footpath and carriageway

Reported via mobile in the Tree/Grass/Shrub Problem on a highway/verge category anonymously at 18:57, Friday 23 August 2024

Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14153786.

The stream bank / verge which borders the Worthen Brook and Mill Stream has been allowed to become overgrown and encroaching onto the carriageway. This presents a significant road safety issue as vehicles turning into Mill Stream from Brookside Close cannot see traffic coming along Mill Stream. It is my understanding that this foliage should be cut twice a year by Shropshire Highways. Add to this that some residents are not maintaining their hedges and trees which further narrows the carriageway and blocks footpaths. In my view this lack of maintenance by Highways and private residents presents significant road safety issues
