Overgrown vegetation restricting visibility on left side
Reported via desktop in the Verge/Visibility problem category anonymously at 16:08, Tue 6 August 2024
Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14152603.
As you drive from Knighton in the direction of Clun on the A488, the vegetation on the left hand verge (see photo) of the A488 is overgrown and is restricting visibility so that one cannot see traffic coming down the hill. The is at the sharp bend known locally as ‘Lee Corner’ where the A488 meets the Weston Road. The ground cover has become so tall that in a low vehicle you cannot see over it and branches on an apple tree on the left have grown across the verge too. This is making it very dangerous when you are driving on the A488 from Knighton and wanting to turn into the Weston Road. We can't see cars coming down the hill and at the same time cars coming behind us along the A488 from Knighton can't see our car if we are stationery while waiting for an opportunity to turn into Weston Road. There was an accident on this corner on the evening of Wednesday 24th July (there are pieces of car still in the other verge - I can send photos of these if needed). Please can the undergrowth be trimmed back before another accident occurs? The recent verge cutting has not addressed the problem.
