Tractors causing damage to the service verge, road and ditch
Reported via desktop in the Other Highways issue category anonymously at 12:22, Thursday 1 August 2024
Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14152304.
This problem has been reported countless times for some years and was reported by the Parish Council again only a few weeks ago. Farm vehicles are continually driving on the verge and ditch causing damage. The response by council highways officers is 'no action required'. The inevitable has now happened, the Severn Trent water main has been fractured causing a leak of 6000 litres an hour. The road is badly damaged for some 80 metres by this driving and unless action is taken to prevent this damage to the road, verge, ditch and water main will continue. There is no obstruction on the highway to account for this driving behaviour.

The recently repaired Severn Trent Mains water is again under threat of being damaged and fractured by tractors driving over the service ditch. This is also a fire hydrant although the marker post was driven over and destroyed some years ago by a tractor. A representative from the Parish Council has observed this damage today.

More and more damage to the service verge by farm vehicles being driven on this area instead of the road.
