Overgrown shrubs

Reported via desktop in the Overgrown Trees/Hedges category anonymously at 07:58, Tue 16 July 2024

Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14151092.

I am writing about the grass verges along Kingswood Road along the section between the start of Kingswood Road at the A41 junction to Albrighton village. These grass verges are in a shocking state and I don’t think have had any maintenance for at least a year. There are thistles over 5 feet high and brambles right over the footways. It is so badly overgrown with brambles in some places that there is not enough room to walk along the footpath. By the bustop there is no room to stand on the footpath. There is certainly no room for wheelchair access. The lack of maintenance is disgusting. It should have been obvious with all the rain we have had that that it is necessary to inspect the state of these footpaths. It is extremely dangerous. The vast majority of people exceed the speed limit along that road. Shropshire Council refuses to put any traffic calming measures along the road such as speed humps or chevrons. The police do occasionally monitor speeding but they are there in high vis jackets and in police vans so are a an obvious ‘presence’ making these exercises completely futile. Now there is no room to even walk along the pavement. Please could these grass verges be cut back as soon as possible. I shall also forward this to the local MP. With best wishes,
