Hazardous footpath due to overdue pedestrian solution

Reported via mobile in the Other Highways issue category anonymously at 09:05, Friday 26 January 2024

Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14135000.

1) bridge being used by lorries, GeoAmey using the bridge on several occasions, observed 25/01/24. 2) red & white plastic temporary barrier is ineffective, as it blows around, vandalised and most of it missing 3) it is understood that the current arrangement is not for pedestrian safety, but to reduce possibility of excessive weight on a weak bridge, which was acceptable before the huge increase in footfall 4) the majority of homes on the Weir Hill development are now inhabited, why has the proposed crossing intended to increase the safety of pedestrians, not been put in place? 5) the increase in e - scooters using the pavement on the bridge at speed, makes this an incident waiting to happen. 6) This crossing/ pavement is used by children and young people to access local schools: St. Giles School, Belvidere School & Crowmore School. THE CURRENT ARRANGEMENT TO PROTECT THE BRIDGE ONLY IS IMMORAL.
