Overflowing drains after storm

Reported via mobile in the Drain blocked category anonymously at 09:18, Fri 29 December 2023

Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14131245.

These drains on either side of Kinsley Road have been blocked by leaves which I clear regularly but the severe rainfall has overwhelmed them thus causing water to flow into gravelled parking area and then drain down to garden and into shed. (Sorry no photos of parking area and lower draining towards shed. )

  • Please see the latest photos of this problem, taken yesterday. As you can see the geography of the road means that water flows from the blocked drains onto my driveway, cascading down the steps. This went on for over 8 hours whilst I repeatedly had to clear the debris in an attempt to limit the damage of water ingression to my property. The level was 4 inches yesterday which meant we couldn’t go out. Obviously passing traffic compounds the problem. I realise that there are a lot of problems at the moment with floods but I consider 10 months too long to wait for scheduled works. This problem would not exist if the scheduled works had been carried out in a timely fashion. I would appreciate very speedy action to rectify the situation.

  • Request for work/jetting of the drains asap as they are even worse now

Posted anonymously at 12:23, Wed 30 October 2024

  • Customer has rung back again to chase this issue up due to concerns about possible heavy rain coming in which would make the problem even worse and possibly cause damage to their property and if it freezes the water, present a slipping hazard particularly on their steps. He asked if these drains could be jetted out as soon as possible.
