Seriously hazardous pot hole on northbound lane of the A41 carriageway

Reported via desktop in the Carriageway pothole category anonymously at 15:36, Sat 9 December 2023

Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14129675.

Located immediately south of the private driveway entrance to Plough House residence, pot hole defect is full depth of tarmac surfacing. Evident on Thursday evening 07-12-2023 when I was driving along the A41 towards Newport at approx' 17:15hrs, when this pothole caused serious damage to the front off-side tyre of my vehicle - beyond repair, and as a direct consequence requiring a replacement tyre as fitted by Tanbank Tyres Ltd of Newport.

  • My car hit same pothole on Tuesday night 5th December but thankfully cannot see any damage. Hole still there last night 9th December. It is northbound drivers side just past the derelict Countess’s Arms. Deep & dangerous

  • I hit this pot hole on 9th December 2023 at approx 8.30pm, and damaged two of my alloy wheels and trye. So was reported at 3.36pm and still not resolve in the evening with road works to corner it off for example.

  • My friend got a flat tyre last night driving last night and had to get a new tyre as a consequence of this dangerous pot hole. This needs sorting asap. We had to limp the car into town as it was 12:30 pm last night and no other option. We will be seeking reimbursement for the cost of the tyre which was £160 because of the emergency call out fee today. We also saw a car missing 2 tyres in a lay-by probably caused by the same pot hole.

  • Pot hole was reported on Thursday evening and still not acted on by Saturday evening. This has caused me to lose two alloy wheels, now my car as unsafe to drive. As I hit this pot hole, around the corner near the garden centre another car was as pulled over with flat tyres. Thank you Shropshire council for making my Christmas with no car to use when a major A road is not seen as a priority.
