Overgrown hedge damaging wall

Reported via desktop in the Overgrown Trees/Hedges category anonymously at 09:45, Wed 27 September 2023

Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14123382.

There is a small wall outside number 7 and the hedge is now very overgrown and is damaging the wall. Hedge needs cutting back before more damage is done. Not sure if the wall is maintained by council or not but the hedge is.

  • Cutting the hedge will not help as the damage has already been done. The wall in the hedge is sinking and is pulling our adjoining wall down.

  • Excuse me! Work has been completed? Are you telling me that you have repaired the wall that is falling down because of the hedge? Because it looked exactly the same when I left for work this morning and I’m pretty sure it can’t be repaired that quickly, however if when I get home there is a brand new wall I will apologise for having no faith whatsoever in the council but I think it’s highly unlikely to be honest.

  • Just got home and surprise, surprise the wall is still sinking so can you please tell me whose wall you did fix because it definitely wasn’t the wall in question. Maybe you should read all of the comments in the thread, not just the first one which implies that the hedge is overgrown and needs cutting . The damage is to the wall, caused by the hedge roots which was stated. After waiting 18 months without so much as a word from you, you suddenly write off the problem without doing anything to fix it.
