Surface collapsed into pothole by blocked drain. Danger to cyclists.

Drain is completely blocked. Large pothole has formed next to it (road surface semi-derelict). Road covered in mud from farm traffic, location is on bend down slope. Serious hazard to cyclists in avoiding this obstacles, and could also damage a vehicle.

Action required: 1) clear drain so that it functions., 2) proper repair to pothole which means using qualified operator and ensuring surface is smoothed. This does not mean dumping a shovelful of tarmac somewhere near the hole and leaving it as has been done nearby.

  • Problem reopened (council consider 'will put on the list' as closed which means it will never get done). Also to keep it here as a reported safety hazard in case anyone does have an accident - this means that Shropshire Council will be liable.

  • Reopened as unsafe for road users. Precedent that councils can only be held liable if the issue is reported and shown as open.
