Large deep pothole accident hazard, Longden Rd near Nobold

Reported via mobile in the Carriageway pothole category by Steve ILES at 22:44, Wednesday 15 March 2023

Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14109728.

This pothole has become much bigger and deeper in recent days. This is causing drivers to swerve onto the opposite side of the carriageway, which is a very dangerous accident risk. Traffic coming from the Nobold direction and coming round the corner is at risk of a collision because there is no visibility of the oncoming traffic due to the walls of the bridge. We have experienced a number of near misses when travelling on this route recently. It is only a matter of time before a collision occurs unless the pothole is repaired. Please take action to repair this as a matter of urgency on safety grounds.

  • Despite having been warned about it, I managed to drive into it this morning and the car's suspension took quite a knock. It is located very close to the sharp bend at Redhill railway bridge so drivers steering to avoid it are in danger of collision with oncoming vehicles as there is no visibility due to the parapet walls of the bridge.

  • The condition of the Longden Road near the railway bridge at Nobold is forcing traffic onto the other side of the road to avoid the potholes. This is a hazard to oncoming traffic from Shrewsbury which is unsighted until the last minute due to the bend in the road just over the bridge.
