Dog fouling - Wem Churchyard

Reported via desktop in the Dog fouling category anonymously at 13:28, Friday 20 January 2023

Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14105343.

Unfortunately, we are suffering from instances of dog fouling in the churchyard adjoining the church. The problem is compounded by the fact that a public right of way exists through the churchyard from the High Street to Mill Street.

Whilst there is a waste bin along it (which is emptied by Veolia on behalf of Shropshire Council), we have received a number of reports of fouling taking place both along the footway and amongst the graves. The issue was discussed at the last meeting of the Church Council, and I was asked to seek your advice as to what steps we may be able to take to reduce the problem. Whilst I presume signing is the most obvious, given the historic nature of the adjoining church and churchyard, we are a little reluctant to clutter the site with notices but it may be that is the only practical solution to the problem. Many thanks for your assistance and look forward to hearing from you
