Excessive, invasive lighting
Reported via mobile in the Sign missing/defective category anonymously at 19:08, Thu 24 November 2022
Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14100910.
Yet again the invasive Christmas lighting at Mardol, corner to Hills Lane, is a massive encroachment on peoples homes and privacy .. actually much worse than recent years
The lighting was on until 03:15am yesterday!!!
Despite curtains the entire apartment is brightly lit up; it's intrusive!
There are 3 options: (1) take them down, (2) significantly reduce the brightness, (3) move them elsewhere
Regardless of that, the lights are frankly redundant, given that the town closes for trading by 18:00 in most places and drunks visiting bars are not interested in christmas lights .. Mardol is mainly empty after regular trading hours
Residents are fed up with needing to ask the council(s) to show basic consideration
Last year the lights weren't even installed because of scaffolding and it was a significant improvement
This lighting makes what should be a festive time of year utterly unbearable on a daily basis for months!
Shouldn't the council be trying to reduce the energy footprint and reduce wasteful public spending?

The lights only really need to be on Fri-Sat from 15:00-21:00 when footfall is highest
The rest of the time is just wasteful

A party associated to the town council just came and turned the lights on after they had been off for a few days. The language and attitude of the person, tantamount to personal attack, ridicule, and vitriol, is unacceptable behaviour. For a resident to be told their circumstances are irrelevant, and to have to experience passive aggressive behaviour is seriously not ok.
