Animal Effluent running into highway and ditches
Reported via desktop in the Other highways issue category anonymously at 11:55, Mon 21 November 2022
Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14100492.
In excess of 100mm deep animal effluent is building on this road, impossible to cross on foot or bike. During wet weather this is then forced down the road into neighbouring water courses, ditches and driveways. We are also aware there are children now in the area who will not be able to walk to their school bus at the top of the road.
A gateway on this road is one third submerged in effluent highlighting how much is being drained across the road and ditch.
It is a real problem and poorly managed. It is clear to see how much waste is accumulating based upon the splash marks up against the boundary stone wall.
This is a contamination risk and can be avoided by improving drainage, holding wells and utilising cleaning machinery on each crossing. Although the latter is not the sole solution based upon how much is being held in the openings.
