Bank Drive West has overflowing drains in heavy rain

Reported via desktop in the Standing water on the highway category by Cllr Chris Lemon at 18:48, Wed 20 July 2022

Sent to Shropshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 14093171.

Residents here have reported to me as the local Councillor that when there is heavy rain the road drains back up, leading to a lot of water in the road sometimes making it impassable on foot. I have contacted Severn Trent who advised:

Sorry to hear about the issue on the road there, it appears that the issue you are referring to is an issue with the surface water drains on the road that are unable to take the capacity of water when there is heavy rain. I would advise to take this issue up with the council as it is their responsibility to maintain the surface water drains.

  • Although the flooding has eased, there still appear to be problems here when there is heavy rainfall, as has been the case this week. Residents believe this may be exasperated by leaf fall from an adjacent sycamore tree. Would it be possible for the Counties Tree Officer to have a look and report back?
