  • Hello Shropshire Council, I was surprised to receive your update saying the work that we've been waiting two years for had been completed because it hasn't! As you're aware the problem with the flooding to our property was due to the road gully being blocked and the old culvert being blocked. The workers that attended the problem here told us that they were digging out the ditch to the field soakaway (which they have done), then they were putting a new culvert in (which they have done). Next step was unblock the culvert (pic#3) and gully pipes (pic#2) by flushing through from the property next door (this hasn't been done). So now we are back to were we started over two years ago, with a blocked road gully and culvert so our property and grounds will flood again this winter. Also, as you can see from the first pic showing the ditch/road the soil spoil hasn't been profiled to the kerb edge (again the workers who attended said this needed to be done) so this will just collapse into the road as the more inclement weather arrives creating both a vehicle hazard on a road that cars and motorcycles already drive to fast along and also will look a right mess outside our house. Please can you urgently update me on this situation. Regards Gary de Saram Yew Tree farm SY4 5RL

  • Shropshire Council your reporting format changed on my pic update and is showing that the 'State changed to: Fixed' - this is not the case and I urge you to update as soon as possible on what remedial or further work you will do to solve your problem outside our property.

  • Hello again, just checked to see if you'd responded to my update and realised that I omitted one important detail - the ditch that was dug out to allow the water to flow down and empty into the field soakaway has been dug out so that it slopes from north to south with the soakaway at the north end and our property at the south end so as water cant travel uphill it just sits in the ditch as per pic #2 and then just seeps back into the ground so we are back to square one! So to summarise:- 1. The road gully is still blocked and needs flushing out. 2. The outflow pipe in the new culvert is still blocked and needs flushing out. 3. The ditch is not fit for purpose because the water can't flow out of it. 4. The mud spoil from the ditch is on the highway and causing a hazard and is an absolute eyesore! Your earliest attention is required to solve this problem. I'm on annual leave this coming week and would welcome a call to discuss this and hopefully somebody will find the time to come and visit and see the issues first hand. Regards Gary de Saram
